In his “Clearing the Air” segment on MSNBC, contributor and former Village Lion Martin Bashir mentioned the Lions. This particular segment highlighted the tribute by the USA Eagles, before their first match in the 2011 Rugby World cup, to the victims of 9/11. He also highlighted rugby player and one of the heroes of Flight 93 Mark Bingham. It’s a great piece on the support of Rugby in America. He pays tribute to Bingham in the highest way possible that can only be expressed in Bashir’s own words.
“…sometimes our sporting heroes badly let us down, they can behave like spoiled children who take their good fortune for granted and assume that the same rules of courtesy and decency don’t apply to them. But then there are people like Mark Bingham. Not just an honorable individual, but a man with the heart of a hero and a terrific rugby play too.”
