Calling all undergrads! Spend spring break warming up for the 7s season on Randall’s Island, March 16.
On the fifteenth year of the annual Four Leaf Fifteens Tournament, the Village Lions unveil a new bracket into the Randall’s Island competition- College 7s. The invitation is both a spring training and recruiting opportunity for underclassmen as they prepare for the upcoming season and consider options for summer clubs. With many colleges changing their focus to 7s in the spring, this is a great opportunity to get some reps in after a winter indoors. Many coaches for senior clubs will already be in attendance and more may seek out the event as a one stop shop for some early recruiting.
The Lions are proud to present a tournament that acts as a hub to foster the rugby community and connect players to new clubs and more competitive opportunities. Other planned 15s brackets are Women’s, Men’s Club, Men’s Social, HS Girls, and HS Boys. Pricing information is available and clubs that wish to enter two teams are extended a discount.
The event is bookended with other fun team opportunities in the city. The Friday preceding the tournament will be a home game for the MLR’s Rugby United of New York, taking place on the city’s other most storied isle, Coney Island. Ticket discounts for registered teams will be available. Following the tournament is a pub crawl organized by the hosts for those 21+. The date of the competition aligns with its original namesake as participants and visitors can catch the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade happening all afternoon on Saturday.
