Village Lions 85 (ish), CT Bull Moose 0
Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007
Officially, the Village Lions won 5-0 vs. Connecticut Bull Moose due to the visitor's forfeit, but the day was actually much more lively. CT brought eight women to Randall's Island, thereby allowing all 30 Lions - though half wore Bull Moose jerseys - playing time. By afternoon's end, nine Leonas crossed for 15 tries, while fullback Alli Hinke nailed ~75% of conversions.
The majority of tries saw the ball go through everyone in the line, with excellent support from the forwards to retain possession. Kudos to rookies Lucy Greenberg and Amy Curcio, who scored their first tries with the Lions; in fact, the first two times Lucy touched the ball, she scored.
Jackie Finlan was named Woman of the Match (and was one try away from the shoulder pad/one sock outfit), and Kim Siciliano won Silent Force ... a nod that empowered the prop to win the dance-off during Rookie Night later that evening (p.s. the Roger Rabbit is not dead). A Silent Force for CT Bull Moose players was chosen as well; congrats to Lindsey Molner for her solid running at inside center.
Lucy Greenberg (2), Emma Fisher, Meg Collins, Becca Asser, Jackie Finlan (4), Marne Sussman (3), Krista Buckley, Amy Curcio, Alli Hinke (~10 conversions).
