Village Lions 55, Long Island 15

The D2 Men traveled to Long Island to take on a struggling team.

The first half got off to a slow start due to a strong-willed Long Island team competing at the breakdowns with a wind advantage, but the Lions came away with scores by Francois Fay, Rob Stabile and Franco DeLisa in the first half.

The Lions conceded a try right before midway to head into the break up 17-5.

Long Island started the scoring in the second half, tightening the match to 17-10 before the Lions stepped on the gas and never looked back.

An immediate response from Captain Fuzz put the Lions up 22-10.

Additional tries were poured on by Lions legend Adil Manari, RaRa Perkins, Felipe Gili, Dave Bliss and, of course, another from Franco.

The final score was Lions 55, Long Island 15.

There was excellent play from the team in all facets of the game in the second half. The Lions were tremendous in the scrum and in securing the ball at the breakdown.

Special shout-outs for strong play go to an injured-but-battling Rich Gallina, Bryan McCorkle and Pat McJury in the backs.

Assistant coach Q bestowed Man of the Match to Mike Tagliafero for his opportunist play in the lineout and highlighted a really great performance by Fuzzy as well.
