The Village Lions RFC in New York City is pleased to welcome Nic Clapinson as our new Men’s 15s Head Coach.
Capped by Canada and a former professional player with Leicester Tigers, Nic is an experienced rugby coach who has been involved in clubs in Canada, Belgium, and the USA, most recently in Philadelphia, where he coached Princeton RFC and Philadelphia Whitemarsh RFC. A USA Rugby Level 300-certified coach, he has served as a regional development officer for the North-East for USA Rugby over the last 3 years.
The Village Lions RFC is currently celebrating its 30th year. The Men’s 15s program has been competing at Northeast Regional and National Division 2 playoff level during the last few seasons, and is looking to build a strong new program under Nic’s leadership.
Village Lions Director of Rugby John Greally welcomes Nic to the club: “We had a major search to find an exceptional candidate for the position to build our Men’s 15s program. Nic came universally highly recommended, he is clearly an extremely well qualified and respected coach. I look forward to him joining Koma Gandy Fischbein and Morné Pretorius, our outstanding Sevens coaches, as we develop a strong coaching culture within the club. We welcome Nic to the Village Lions family.”
Nic Clapinson looks forward to the opportunity to work with the Lions “I’m very pleased to be joining the Lions as Head Coach of the men’s XVs program during their 30th anniversary season. I look forward to working with the staff, executive committee and most importantly the players in re-establishing the club in the top of their competition and to working to get to the next level in the coming years.”
The Village Lions encourages applications for our further opportunity as Head Coach of the Women’s 15s program:
