The Village Lions Women participated in an episode of ‘Woman v Workout’ a YouTube video series which challenges model Lauren Berlingeri to try and stay on her feet while completing “crazy” fitness challenges… Lauren spent an afternoon with
a local rugby coach learning ruck from maul to gear up for a live scrimmage during one of the Lions Summer 7′s training sessions.
Check out the video below

After a successful outing at the club’s own Four Leaf 15s tournament (2-1), the Village Lions Women competed in their first 80-minute friendly of the spring 2012 season against Severn River in Maryland. Thirty players in two vans and three cars, one of which is still in Maryland getting some bodywork before returning to its mama in Greenpoint, N.Y., made the trip south and logged
some important A and B side time on the pitch.
The Leonas got off to a sluggish start – maybe it was the four-hour drive, maybe it was the unfamiliar grass turf – but whatever the case, 15 minutes passed before the Village Lions had their heads fully in
the game. As a result, Severn River was able to run in three tries before the halftime whistle.
The team regrouped at halftime and used the downhill grade to produce some more continuous play. The Lions’ first try came after a long drive downfield that had Severn River defending desperately and which eventually led to a penalty on their five meter. Scrumhalf and B side Woman of the Match Kim Dacres quick-tapped through the mark and hit lock Jess Houser breaking weakside. The captain pinned two defenders closing in for the tackle, and at the last second, dished to fullback Jackie Finlan to score in the corner.
