Lion Kings
The old boys' side. Once a Lion, always a Lion.
About the side
The Lion Kings are the club's old boys' side, for players who have aged out of the weekly grind but not out of the game.
With a push from Bill McHugh and Alan Lobo, the Village Lions launched a 35-and-over team in 2001, quickly building rivalries with the Connecticut Greys and the Gentlemen of New York. The Lion Kings have toured Memphis, Chicago, Rehoboth and New Orleans.
Terry Buechner serves as old boys captain, succeeding Pat Nihan. Buechner was Old Boy of the Year in 2014, and Guillaume Blin took the honour in 2015.
Today the Lion Kings play other old boys' sides on weekends through the fall and spring.
